Cowley Manor Hotel, The Cotswalds.

Cowley Manor is a luxury spa hotel in the Cotswolds. This was a dream project and was the catalyst for forming a partnership with my friend and colleague, Andrea Stemmer in 2001. Kay+Stemmer designed and supplied furniture for the 30 bedrooms and dining room, as well as a number of other pieces. After 12 years, the partnership came to a natural conclusion through our respective moves to France and Devon.

The hotel was refurbished in 2017 and I was asked to design a new reception desk. Shaped to maximise the space and allow two receptionists to comfortably welcome and serve clients, it is clad in wedge shaped fumed oak slats – the edges of the wedges are painted red and the colour moves in and out of view as you walk around it. This was a collaboration with Phil Lardner and made by Phil and Jennifer Low.
